Join the Pickleball Craze at Relish

Ya know when something new takes a hold of you- the obsession grabs you and before you know it you have multiple paddles, spreadsheets, practice sessions at 5 am and you are working on videoing your matches? Well, Ken can tell you a little something about that. He got bit by the pickleball bug in 2024 and he's been feverish ever since.

Ken has bought into the pickleball craze and he is in deep. He's had tons of fun playing with friends and out in the community. He's played at Waneka Lake, in Arvada, in Boulder, in Erie, at a few pickleball pubs and most frequently at Lifetime Fitness. He's won a couple tournaments and has a few more coming up this summer and fall.

He's loved it so much he encouraged me to try too and I have to say, it's been really fun. I've taken a few lessons and while I am just getting started, it's been exciting to try something new.

My foray into pickleball this summer has conveniently coincided with the opening of Relish- a brand new pickleball center and food hall in Louisville. It's big, brand new, beautiful, has multiple different food stalls, as well as ice cream, smoothies, a full bar, coffee shop, meeting rooms, event spaces, plus 19 indoor pickleball courts and a few outdoor courts as well. They built out the space from the Sam's Club that was previously in the building and the build out took 5 years from start to finish.

You can take lessons at Relish and they frequently have free "Intro to Pickleball" clinics, you can book courts for you and your friends, go to open play, and much more. Since they just opened, everyone is learning the systems and it's been fun to be starting the game at the same time as everyone at Relish is getting to know each other.

I've mostly gone to the open play sessions that are divided up into skill levels. You sign up for a certain time and others at your skill level can sign up too so you play matches against others that are your level.

They have drop in rates for daily play as well as memberships too. I quickly found that I was dropping in enough that a membership made sense.

I think it's so neat we have such a great new amenity in our area. You can follow Relish on Instagram here.

Have you ever thought about playing pickleball? If so, let us know. It would be fun to see you out on the courts or meet up for a smoothie at Relish. And if not pickleball, what are you doing for fun these days? What obsession has taken hold of you? We'd love to hear from you.

Until next time-

Allison and Ken
